31 Weeks

28 weeks and 21 weeks

22 weeks and 29 weeks

30 weeks

How far along? 31 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 22 lbs gained at 30 week appointment
Maternity clothes? Of course! I still like experimenting with my old clothes, like wearing what used to be a dress as a tunic over leggings :)
Stretch marks? Not yet...
Sleep: pretty good, but it takes about 4 pillows to get comfy
Best moment this month: Probably finding out I LOST 5 pounds since my last appointment. Thank goodness because the appointment before I gained 9! Holy cow!
Miss Anything? Being able to move around easily and not having to take potty breaks every 20 minutes.
Movement: lots and it is getting strong! Little Hayes is quite a kicker!
Food cravings: Still any kind of cheese and rice (not together).
Anything making you queasy or sick: not a thing!
Have you started to show yet: ha ha!
Gender: Hopefully still a boy. We have an ultrasound next week because I'm measuring big (again!) so we will double check and report back ;)
Labor Signs: none
Belly Button in or out? Getting flatter by the minute but still an innie for now
Wedding rings on or off? On, but they are tight in the mornings. Thank goodness the cankles of last pregnancy have not reappeared...yet.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy! This pregnancy seems so much easier than the last one and I am definitely less neurotic this time around.
Looking forward to: Finishing the nursery. It's coming together bit by bit.

The Bird Class

Ever wonder what goes on at 3 year old kindergarten? I do! Thankfully Rivers' teachers are great at sharing photos with us. Here are some favorites of Rivers and his friends in the Bird Class :)

In a circle for music time

Scissors are a new favorite tool, and girls with hair bows are fascinating too! Rivers tells me about all the girls who wear hair bows :) "Mama she got a bow on her head like Minnie"

Circle of friends on the playground

Story time!

Making a car

Learning about pumpkins in October

The sand table is a favorite!

Train tracks!!! It was a big deal when the class got some of these!

Building with hats on

measuring and pouring

learning about magnets

marching band!

STOP!

Snack time

Did I mention he LOVES trains?
I am so thankful that Rivers loves school now. Everyone told me he would, and they were right! Just took a few weeks of adjustments and now, as promised, he hops out of the car, says "bye mom!" and runs in to see his friends.

How Rivers looked and I felt after tailgating at Clemson :)

He continues to be thrilled by shopping

In the wrong color again at the Wofford/Furman game! So proud that he is a team doc for Furman, though!

Rivers-isms

My favorite quotes from my boy lately:

Me: Rivers, let's put on your shoes to walk over to Pa's house.
Rivers: No mama, I'll just wear my toes.

Rivers: Mama, what's that (pointing to my head full of rollers)
Me: That's to make my hair pretty
R: It didn't work.

After a minor pee pee accident:
"Mama I sorry. I didn't mean to. It was my penis. He pee pee on me."

Life is never boring with this sweet boy! (I promise this is my last blog tonight)

Back to School!

After a year at home with mama, my little man has started K3! He is in a wonderful program at First Baptist Kindergarten and is in the "Bird Class." He goes Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9-12. This is my little bird on the first day of school:

Here is his little locker where he hangs his red bag each morning.

And Rivers at the light table on his very first day.

It has been a bit of an adjustment. Despite easing him in to the idea of school by having his wonderful teachers coming to our house for a home visit this summer to get to know him "on his own turf," and an open house in his classroom where I could come and explore the class with him, Rivers is used to being home with mama. The first two weeks his teachers said he cried/screamed for no less than an hour each morning :( When he got in the car at the end of the day he said he had fun, but he didn't really want to talk about school or go back.

Finally, on Friday, his teachers said that he hardly had any tears and participated very well in class. Whew, an answered prayer! They also said that at one point on the playground he was walking around in just his shirt and underwear, but let's just take one hurdle at a time :) Here's to a great first year of "school!"

This week

Here's what we've been up to in the Koch house this week:
I made bread for the first time! SO yummy and I know exactly what is in it :)

I started back to work (part time) this week, and this little guy hitched a ride home with me...

where THIS little guy wanted to keep him!

Lilly met some precious kiddos at the park while Heidi staved off a panic attack

We finished Rivers' reading nook in his room (now on to the other 10 rooms....)

We rode bikes from First Baptist to downtown and hung out at the falls for a while
Where Rivers and Daddy ran...
And flew!
