I remember being so excited when he could hold his head up and bat at a toy on his bouncer. Now he climbs up stairs, then turns around and smiles at us and claps for himself! It's been so amazing to watch this little man grow during his first year. And what better reason to celebrate!
On his first day as a one-year-old, Rivers finally got to wear the little one-year-old turtle t-shirt that I bought him forever ago, along with a special birthday bib.

When we arrived at Mia and MacDaddy's for the day, little birthday presents were waiting on him! (His favorite was the little can that moos like a cow when you turn it over :) ) Mom made him a special birthday breakfast, then they came to visit me at work before we headed off to a birthday lunch at Brick Street.
After work and dinner, Mimi, Poppie, Mia and MacDaddy came over and Rivers got his official birthday cupcake, complete with candle! He went straight for it - immediately grabbed and ate the entire adult-sized cupcake - icing and all. He absolutely loved it, then the sugar high kicked in and he had even more fun clowning around for his grandparents.
On Saturday, we had family and friends over for his monkey-themed birthday party. We had a little baby jump house and baby pool for the kiddos, and Shay grilled hamburgers for everyone. Then Rivers got his second cake in one week and got to open presents! True to toddler style, after receiving all kinds of wonderful toys and gifts, the thing he played with the most was a plastic cup :)
Thank you to all of you who celebrated with us and sent Rivers special birthday wishes. Shay and I truly appreciate all of the support and love we've had from all of you this year. Thank you for being a part of our lives!
